Sami Culture in the Wilderness
Experience the Arctic nature with the northern lights and snow! Here by the beautiful Andsvatnet, you can relax in a traditional Sami lavvu or around the fire. Listen to Sami stories, see traditional Sami handicrafts, and enjoy food and drinks. You can also try ice fishing and go on foot, or with snowshoes to visit the mystical Hulderslottet! Or how about ice/snow bathing followed by a sauna? Experience a snow safari, play in the snow, and take part in various Sami activities. Visit our cozy little shop for unique souvenirs.

Sami storytelling
Join us for Sami storytelling and a demonstration of traditional handicrafts. We will also enjoy time in the lavvu with traditional food or outside around the fire if the weather is good.
Northern Lights safari
We stay in the camp area and hunt for the magical Aurora Borealis! You will learn about the northern lights and hear Sami legends about them while enjoying a simple meal inside a cozy lavvu or outside around the fire. Enjoy the darkness, the silence, and have your camera ready!
Snow safari/activities
Experience a variety of fun snow activities and listen to exciting Sami stories. A simple meal or campfire snacks will be served! Activities are adapted to the participants.
Snowshoeing or hiking to Hulderslottet and a scenic viewpoint
The trip to the viewpoint and Hulderslottet is a short walk of about one kilometer if you go all the way to Hulderslottet, or shorter if you choose to turn back at the viewpoint. This is a relaxed excursion with low entry requirements. You can walk on foot or use snowshoes if there is a lot of snow. Snowshoes have the fantastic ability to keep you from sinking into the snow like regular shoes.
At Hulderslottet or along the way, you will hear tales of the hulder – and who knows, she might even make an appearance! A simple meal or campfire snacks will also be served.
Ice fishing/fishing
With us, you can enjoy fishing experiences both in summer and winter. In winter, Andsvatnet is frozen, and we drill a hole in the ice to fish with a jigging rod. If you catch a fish, we hope you’ll grill it! Regardless, we will serve simple local campfire food and drinks. A fishing permit is included in the package.
Ice bath/snowbathing/beach and Sauna
We offer a unique swimming and sauna experience! There’s nothing quite like the combination of cold and warmth—it’s an incredible feeling. In winter, we take a dip in icy water or snow, while in summer, we enjoy temperate waters.
We’ll gladly share the wonders of the sauna for both body and soul. A simple meal or campfire snacks will be served. Please bring your own towel, or you can purchase a special sauna towel from us!
By arrangement, this experience can also be combined with a hot tub session from May to October.
Sami Culture: Various Activities
There are plenty of opportunities for both children and adults in the Sami Village, all year round! You can take part in activities such as lasso throwing, baking traditional Sami bread, making your own reindeer antler jewelry, and learning a few words in Sami.
Join us for a fun-filled day! We’ll host a lasso competition where you can try to catch reindeer antlers—prizes for the winner! Food service is available upon request
